Concerts at Carmel 2007-2008 season

 
  

Concerts at Carmel is entering its ninth season as a premiere chamber music series in suburban Philadelphia. With its gothic stone interior and beautiful Willet stained glass windows, the Carmel Sanctuary is a lovely setting for fine chamber and organ music and boasts acoustics that are second to none. There is no admission charge for these concerts but voluntary donations are most welcome.

The Wister Quartet

The Wister String Quartet is back by demand, this time performing early masterpieces of Ludwig van Beethoven and Claude Debussy. Featured on this concert is the Philadelphia Orchestra’s principal French hornist, Jennifer Montone, who is becoming known for her brilliant performances with superb control and gorgeous tone. Together they will perform the Mozart Quintet for horn and strings in E flat Major.

Director of Music and Organist at First Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia, the distinguished recitalist Andrew Senn, just returned from giving organ concerts in Germany, will present a thrilling program of Bach, Elgar, Vierne, and Willan on the renowned Carmel Organ.



       

Celtic Women and Friends
Family Concert

A Carmel favorite, Celtic Women and Friends will usher in the St. Patrick’s holiday with their toe-tapping blend of whistle, pipes, strings, voice and drums. Bring the family and friends for an enjoyable afternoon.



       

Annual “Bliss and Friends” Concert

Lois Bliss Herbine and Allen Krantz’ first collaboration was here on the Concerts at Carmel series in 2002. In 2008 the Herbine-Krantz duo is established and recognized in recording, in radio, and in articles and enthusiastic reviews, both in the US and abroad. The selections presented in this flute and guitar concert travel through multicultural dance forms and accent the music of Romania, Argentina, Western Europe, India, Ireland and America.
